Neuro Probe Boyden Chemotaxis Chamber

The term “Boyden chamber” is used generically in the literature for any instrument used to study trans-membrane chemotaxis as originally studied by Dr. Steven Boyden in the 1960’s. It is also referred to as “trans-well migration.” By this definition all Neuro Probe migration chambers are Boyden chambers.

The Neuro Probe Boyden chamber is a single well reusable instrument adapted from Boyden's original design.

The chamber is precision-machined from acrylic, with polished interior and exterior surfaces that reduce contamination, facilitate cleaning, and permit detection of bubbles trapped below the filter. The lower well is formed by a U-shaped passage open to the atmosphere, thus equalizing atmospheric pressure across the filter membrane. A filter, placed over the lower well, is held in place by the white delrin retainer. The top well is precision-machined in the retainer, which is designed to seal without an O-ring between the upper and lower wells.

A wide range of filter pore sizes is available for these instruments.

Accompanying each chamber is a protocol for its use and care.
